Part 1. Review the Biocontrol Glossary,(online at http://biocontrol.ifas.ufl.edu/glossary.htm,) then based on your understanding and the definition of the terms precinctive, native, immigrant, and introduced, look up the known distribution for any species of insect that is:
Part 2a. Plot on provided maps the known distribution of one of the following insects. Be sure to write the complete scientific name for your insect. List references, and find an online picture of the insect species of your choosing. Maps for your use (.gif format)- print out and use as many as you like. Choose one of the following for Part 2a.
Part 2b. Plot FLORIDA DISTRIBUTION ONLY (on Florida county map)of one of the following. Include the complete taxonomic categories (Order, Family) for the species you choose.
You may FAX your maps to me, mail them, or send them as graphics in an email message if you know how. I think this will be an educational exercise for all. |
